HEBO Acquires Brabo Floating Crane to Strengthen Lifting Services in Antwerp
Continuing Brabo’s Role in the Port Community
Brabo has operated in the Antwerp port area since 1981, supporting internal services and external customers with heavy lifting activity. With a lifting capacity of 800 tonnes, the floating crane has played an important role in projects across the port.
Port of Antwerp-Bruges had previously decided to discontinue its own lifting operations with Brabo. Through the sale, the crane will transfer to HEBO and remain within a specialist maritime operating environment.
HEBO and Bonn & Mees are both part of Marine People. Together, they operate a broad fleet of floating cranes with different capacities and capabilities. This allows equipment to be selected according to the needs of each project and helps maintain continuity without relying on a single crane.
Additional Capacity for Antwerp
HEBO intends to deploy Brabo’s lifting capacity in Antwerp, supporting existing and future users within the port community. The addition is expected to strengthen specialist lifting provision and provide further support for the port’s breakbulk sector.
Port of Antwerp-Bruges will, within its remit and capabilities, support HEBO in exploring options for a suitable berth or operational base in the port. The parties will work together to identify a practical arrangement that responds to the needs of both the market and the wider port community.
The transfer is scheduled to take place by the end of August.
