Darcy Spillcare Delivers Purpose-Built Oil Recovery Vessel for Operations in Africa
Developed Around a Specific Response Requirement
The project began when an international customer identified a requirement from one of its clients in Africa for a vessel equipped to support pollution prevention and oil spill clean-up operations.
They was aware of an oil recovery vessel concept that had not yet been brought to market. Working closely with the customer and the wider project team, the company helped develop the concept into a completed vessel designed around the client’s operational needs.
The resulting vessel provides a dedicated platform for carrying and deploying oil spill response equipment. Its flexible working deck supports recovery activity while enabling equipment to be used where it is needed during an incident.
From Initial Concept to Delivery
The first vessel was completed and delivered to Africa in 2024. A further vessel followed in 2025, with another subsequently placed on order.
The project demonstrates how collaboration between equipment specialists, fabricators and customers can transform an early-stage concept into a practical response asset. It also highlights the value of developing solutions around the conditions in which they will ultimately operate.
