About Inobiostar

Inobiostar is a Lithuanian marine biotechnology start-up founded in 2020 as a spin-off from Klaipėda University. The company was established to develop deep-tech innovations that contribute to cleaner seas and help address the environmental impact of oil pollution.

Its principal innovation is InnoAerogel®, a biodegradable sorbent produced from recycled paper waste and combined with oil-degrading microorganisms isolated from the Baltic Sea. The material is designed to capture oil from contaminated water while supporting the natural breakdown of petroleum hydrocarbons.

Inobiostar is advancing the technology through research, product development and testing in different marine environments. Its work brings together environmental engineering, aquatic microbiology and materials science to develop a circular, science-based alternative to conventional fossil fuel-based sorbents.
